Death by drowning is up more than 70 per cent this summer [2010]. Five deaths in Victoria over the past month have contributed to one of the worst years for drownings on record. Royal Life Saving's chief executive officer Rob Bradley urged people to consider their safety and not over estimate their ability in or around the water.
