Owners of St John Ambulance first aid kits are being urged to check the batch number of saline.
A St John Ambulance customer service representative said yesterday that some 15 millilitre vials with the batch number 20090715 were found to be contaminated and the discovery reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration, as protocol required.
The recall relates to large, medium and small leisure first aid kits bought between September and December last year.
Anyone with the suspect batch number is asked to advise St John Ambulance customer service department of their details on 1300 598 829 so replacements can be forwarded.
